Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1 RTM

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1 have reached RTM!!

Microsoft is delivering some awesome features in SP1, including:

Dynamic Memory

This feature lets administrators “pool” memory to share among virtual machines.  Microsoft Hyper-V dynamic memory is guest optimized and provides a significant step forward in the approach to this virtualization capability.  The guest aware capabilities of dynamic memory are especially evident in high consolidation instances where memory resources are taxed.

RemoteFX

This capability brings high-end graphics acceleration to virtual desktops hosted within a Hyper-V environment.  The capability brings the experience of a virtual hosted desktop and a standard desktop closer together by delivering a high-end media experience to virtual desktops.

Here is a great overview of RemoteFX:

Overview

These capabilities from Microsoft, as well as the complementing System Center technologies are another example of how Hyper-V is delivering a true value proposition around features, price, and management.

Happy virtualizing!
