
The Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2014, aka SPC14, took place March 3-6 in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel with over 12,000 attendees.

It kicked off with a bang, here's some highlights.
Jared Spataro shares fantastic growth numbers over the past 12 months:
- 500% user growth in SharePoint online
- Office 365 generates $1.5 billion in annual revenue
- 60% of Fortune 500 companies have adopted Office 365 in the past year.
- Office 365 is the fastest growing commercial product in Microsoft's history. SharePoint held this title for many years.
President Bill Clinton delivers the keynote.
- He talked about how Microsoft has had a very important part of the Clinton Foundation.
- I especially liked his comments on how mobile phones and the internet have revolutionized the way we help and connect with each other.
- "You know, and the burden of knowledge is responsibility!"
Jeff Teper shares exciting new innovations around SharePoint and Office 365. "Cloud is key"

Next-gen portals - Easy, fast, templates to deliver content to end users.
Office365 Video Portal - Available later in 2014
- Video has become requirement for SharePoint portals
- Out-the-box enterprise video streaming portal that is ready to use.
- Built on SharePoint Online with backend using Azure Media services - This was used to stream video of the London and Sochi Olympics.
- Portal with channels of video, spotlight videos, popular/trending videos.
- Adaptive video streaming (based on bandwidth sends that quality of video to device)
- Mobile phone apps coming
SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 released
- Support for Server 2012 R2 (not for SQL2014 that's in the April 2014 CU)
- Rebranded SkyDrive Pro to OneDrive for Business
- Seamless hybrid connection to OneDrive for Business, can redirect on-premises OneDrive to the cloud, SharePoint Online. Use audience targeting to keep some in the cloud and others on-premises.
- Remember install and test all SharePoint updates in development prior to deploying to production.
